About Us & Disclosures

eBikesRated was built to provide transparency in the e-bike industry. We publish our rankings, reviews, and disclosures in one place so you always understand how this site operates and exactly how our scores are calculated.

Ownership & Control

eBikesRated is owned and operated by Lectric eBikes. To provide a comprehensive resource for consumers, Lectric's products are evaluated and included in our rankings alongside competitor e-bikes.

Objective Methodology: The Math Behind Every Score

We use a strict, data-driven scoring rubric. Our scores are calculated using the exact same mathematical formula for every single bike, regardless of the manufacturer. This ensures our results are consistent, repeatable, and rooted in data rather than opinion.

Performance Score

The Performance Score measures a bike's overall technical capability on a 100-point scale. It is the sum of six category subtotals — Power & Drive, Battery & Range, Safety & Braking, Ride Quality & Components, Utility & Practicality, and Display & Connectivity — each built from published manufacturer specifications. Every metric is a ladder: a bike sits on exactly one rung and earns that rung's points. There is no weighting step, no normalisation and nothing rounded away. The complete rulebook, every rung and every point value, is published on our How we score page.

Value Index

The Value Index represents performance-per-dollar. It is calculated by dividing a bike's Performance Score by its retail price in thousands of dollars, giving points per $1,000. It is a ratio, not a rating: it is printed to one decimal, ranked on its own board, and never blended into the Performance Score.

Eligibility

To qualify for our rankings, a bike must meet our safety and reliability floor: a UL 2849 listing for the complete electrical system, a UL 2271 listing for the battery pack, disc brakes front and rear, no open CPSC recall, US-based customer support with published parts availability, and a verified production specification. These are pass or fail and worth zero points. A bike that fails any one of them is scored and shown, but not ranked.

Data Sourcing

To maintain objectivity, all specifications and performance data used in our scoring algorithms are pulled directly from published manufacturer data sheets, user manuals, and official product documentation. Where a manufacturer does not publish a specification, the bike scores zero for that metric and the product page says so. We do not estimate.

Affiliate Links & Compensation

eBikesRated participates in affiliate marketing programs. This means we may earn a commission when users click on "buy now" links or complete a purchase through retailers linked on our site. These commissions do not influence the mathematical scoring or ranking of any e-bike.

Advertising

eBikesRated displays advertising. Advertisers have no access to the scoring system, and no advertisement, sponsorship or commercial relationship has any path into a bike's score or ranking. Sponsored placements are always labelled as such.

Editorial Safeguards

Scores are generated strictly from our published mathematical rubric and raw manufacturer data. No individual can hand-adjust a bike's final score or ranking: every change to a scoring rule is versioned, dated, logged publicly and applied to every bike at once, and every correction to a bike's data is recorded on its product page.
