FAQ
Answers to common questions about scoring, review requests, and using eBikesRated.
How we score bikes
Two numbers. No opinions. Every bike is evaluated on the same objective criteria every time.
PERFORMANCE SCORE
100 points, six categories
Power & Drive, Battery & Range, Safety & Braking, Ride Quality & Components, Utility & Practicality and Display & Connectivity. Every metric is a published ladder and the subtotals add up to the score in front of you.
VALUE INDEX
Performance per dollar
Performance Score ÷ (price ÷ $1,000) = points per $1,000. A ratio printed to one decimal and ranked on its own board — never blended into the score.
Eligibility gates (pass or fail, zero points)
- UL 2849: complete electrical system certified
- UL 2271: battery pack certified
- Disc brakes front and rear
- No open CPSC recall
- US support and published parts availability
- Verified production specification
The full rulebook — every metric, every rung and every point value — is on the How we score page, and every product page shows the arithmetic behind its own score.
How to submit requests for bike reviews
Not seeing certain eBikes on our site? Submit your suggestions and requested model through the request form. Our team reviews submissions and prioritizes models in upcoming scoring cycles based on rider demand and data availability.
How to submit site suggestions
Provide any ideas or feedback so we can continue to improve the site. Include as much detail as possible (page URL, suggestion, and expected behavior) so we can continue to grow and improve quickly.
Why did a bike's score change?
One of three reasons, and the product page will say which: the manufacturer changed the specification, we corrected a data error, or we changed a scoring rule. Rule changes are versioned, dated and applied to every bike at once, and the log is public on the How we score page.
